The Super Late Models will be invading the high banks of
Deep South Speedway this Saturday night as part of a continuing Independence celebration
for the weekend. Last visit by these thundering warriors saw the local hero
Shep Lucas wheel his familiar #57 machine to the front of the field to take the
checkers. This time, several “hot shoes” are looking to unseat the domination
Lucas has had in the super class.
The Super Late model cars will have a $2,000 to win purse
awaiting them as the speedway will be celebrating the 4th with a
fireworks display worth the price of admission by a long shot. Owner Bill Webb
says bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a huge fireworks display set to begin
soon after dark in celebration of the independence of our great country. The
fireworks will be one to remember as the show is expected to be three times
longer than any other fireworks display held at the speedway.
Pit gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at
7:00 p.m. The admission to the grandstands is $12.00 per adult and $5.00 for
kids ages 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free. Be sure to get there early and get
your favorite spot and enjoy all the good food that is served in the
concessions. You do not want to miss this!!!
