A large field of drivers is expected to be on hand for the Rajun’
Cajun’ Sprint Car Spectacular that will be here this weekend, Saturday May 24, 2008.
A full field of these winged sprint cars is expected to invade the high banks
of Deep South Speedway and guarantee thrills and excitement.
The prize
money up for grabs for the weekend is over $8,000.00 for the Sprint drivers who
will travel from several states to compete here at the speedway in Loxley. The
open wheel winged warriors will compete for a top prize of $3,000.00 and put on
one awesome show. Last event, spectators were on edge as several cars
cart-wheeled as the fast paced action got too intense several times during the
race.
Other
divisions will be running including the regular Saturday night divisions GM
Performance Crate Late Model, Open Wheel Modified, Super Hobby, Hobby Stock,
Stinger and the newly added Vintage class. The Limited Sportsman division will
not be running Saturday night but the Hobby Stock drivers will be running TWO
features. The first feature will see the drivers who were on the track two
weeks ago when the race was red flagged because of a turn one incident with the
#8 car of Shannon Hodges.
Hodges is
expected to debut his new car Saturday night and says he will be ready to go
racing again on the high banks of Deep South.
The first feature will line the cars up as they were scored on lap 3 of that
red-flagged event. They will run that feature first and then later in the program,
the Hobby Stocks will take the track again for a $300 to win show, which will
pay more money throughout the field! If you want to see a dynamite,
action-packed race, you do not want to miss any of the double feature action in
the Hobby Stock class featuring drivers like John Boyd, Shannon Hodges, Chris
Seale, Steven Allday, Joseph Adams, Josh Showles, Ronnie Vick, Brandon Jordan,
Chris Burger, Brandon Kelly, Parker Bell, Ryan Pumphrey, David Kelly, Chad
Byrd, John Crawford, William Holder and Junior Vick, along with other drivers
who will be ready for this double-header shootout.
The weekend
schedule begins Saturday, May 24th, with hot laps beginning around 7:00 p.m.
The admission to the grandstands is $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids ages
6-12, and kids 5 and under free with paid adult. The pit admission will be
$30.00 per adult, $10.00 for kids ages 6-12 and 5 and under free with adult.
The first Hobby Stock feature will be running right after hot laps and drivers
meeting.
